SNAPSHOTS

The rate of new technologies emerging is growing ever faster. As business leaders, how do you stay knowledgeable of all the changes, get real answers to your questions and still stay on top of your heavy workload?

The answer: CSAIL SNAPSHOTs.

SNAPSHOTs are ½ day sessions on a cutting-edge new technology. MIT CSAIL faculty discuss the new technology, its capabilities, its limits, and what the research community sees as the biggest issues to commercial deployment. It's only a matter of time before the next big thing is being harnessed for advancement, efficiency and greater ROI. How will you use it in your company? What could the road map look like? What are the biggest benefits you could derive? And what challenges still exist you need to be aware of with the technology?

The SNAPSHOT session can be held in-person on campus in CSAIL’s Stata Center OR virtually. These sessions aim to combine talks about a technology’s current state, business applications, and challenges that may still remain. SNAPSHOT sessions incorporate significant discussion, Q&A, as well as road map elements.

For on-campus sessions, there will be networking breaks and refreshments served.

SNAPSHOTs are the perfect way to enable your team to quickly come up to speed on the given topic, the terminology associated, advantages/disadvantages, opportunities, and challenges. Led by world-renowned MIT expert faculty in an open, discussion-filled environment, you and your team (or clients) spend a ½ day examining a technology and mapping its benefits to your business.

What topics are covered?

Any topic handled at CSAIL can be a topic of a CSAIL SNAPSHOT. CSAIL is the largest lab at MIT with over 1700 people, 900 active projects, 500+ start-ups, and 60+ research groups covering:

  • Computer Vision & Graphics

  • Natural Language Processing

  • Robotics

  • Computational Design & Manufacturing

  • Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning

  • System Architecture

  • System Optimization

  • Human-Computer Interaction

  • Algorithms

  • Generative AI

  • Hardware

  • Cybersecurity

  • Data Usage

  • Wireless

  • And more.

These topics apply to virtually every industry sector. A SNAPSHOT covers 1 topic for the half-day session and will be led by a faculty member with active research in the space, ensuring you receive the most up-to-date knowledge.

Who can schedule a SNAPSHOT?

SNAPSHOTs can be scheduled by both CSAIL Alliance member companies AND non-member companies.

How many people can attend a SNAPSHOT?

SNAPSHOTs are meant for small groups to discuss a single topic in depth with a leading expert. Ideally the group will be 20-25 people to ensure broad knowledge transfer.

What is the cost?

The cost for a ½ day SNAPSHOT for up to 25 people with expert faculty leadership is $10,000 for members (~$400 per person; 1 SNAPSHOT is included in member benefits for Partner, Initiative and Strategic levels) and $15,000 for non-members (~$600 per person).
